My name is Emilio Pineda, and I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted to pursue the Master's (MPhil) in Literature, Culture and Thought at the University of Cambridge in the UK, where the acceptance rate is less than 15%. This opportunity is a dream come true, the result of years of hard work and a deep passion for literature. However, I now face a significant financial challenge: funding my studies.

About me:

I am a 22-year-old artist and researcher from Monterrey, in northern Mexico. Since my childhood, art and literature have been my way of understanding the world around me. They have shaped my professional career as an artist and literary researcher. I have participated in conferences in the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Universidad de Monterrey; published papers and co-authored book chapters; and exhibited my work in group exhibitions and local art fairs like FAMA in Monterrey.

Why this matters:

Both of my parents are university professors in Mexico and I have always admired their work in academia, I think higher education is fundamental for society's development. After obtaining this master’s degree, I want to go on to pursue a PhD and return to Mexico in order to change Humanities' curriculums in universities to think of literature as an essential part of our being in society, as well as it's important value when we compare it to the development of AI.

In a hyper-connected society, I believe that now more than ever the study of literature allows us to build stronger and healthier relationships in society. It also gives us a chance to comprehend the complexities of out political system. Literature gives us a better understanding of each other; when you read, you can get a glimpse of the reality of others.

Desde que era niño, encontré en el arte y la literatura un lenguaje natural para comprender el mundo que me rodeaba.
