Help Me Give My Dad the Goodbye He Deserves

Hi, my name is Debora, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest times of my life.

In January 2024, my father suffered a massive stroke while in the hospital after complications from COVID. It completely changed our lives. He spent months in the hospital fighting to regain his ability to speak and walk, followed by six long and difficult months in rehab.

In September 2024, I was finally able to bring him home. Since then, I’ve been caring for him full-time while also trying to manage all of his expenses — his home, his car, his medical needs — on my own.

Nine months later, the unimaginable happened. My dad suffered two massive heart attacks — one at home while I was working, and another at the hospital. He died twice and was brought back both times. He is now on life support, intubated, and unable to breathe on his own due to severe brain damage caused by the second heart attack.

He is still fighting — and I am still hoping. But I also need to prepare for the possibility that I may soon have to say goodbye.

I’m currently pregnant, doing everything I can to stay strong for my baby while navigating this devastating journey. The emotional and financial burden has become overwhelming, and I want to make sure that if and when that time comes, my father receives a proper, dignified farewell — one that honors the love, strength, and fight he’s shown all his life.
