My name is Veronika, and I adopted Asher in February 2025. From the moment he came into my life, he has been pure love. He’s gentle, sweet, and has a way of making even the hardest days feel lighter.

Early on, I noticed something wasn’t quite right. Asher couldn’t tolerate dry dog food and would often throw up after eating. I started cooking his meals at home, and it made such a difference—he finally felt better, and watching him enjoy his food was such a relief.

At his first vet visit, routine bloodwork showed that Asher’s liver enzymes were high. We started medication and a special diet, hopeful that this would be enough. At his second check-up, there was only slight improvement, but we kept going, believing we were on the right path.

At his third visit, everything changed. His liver enzymes had gotten much worse, and he had lost a significant amount of weight. After more tests and an ultrasound, the vets explained that everything points to a liver shunt—a condition he was likely born with. Unfortunately, the ultrasound couldn’t show exactly where the shunt is.

On top of this, Asher also suffers from entropion, a painful condition where his eyelids roll inward and his eyelashes constantly rub against his eyes. It’s another issue he’s been living with quietly, and one that will also require treatment to prevent long-term damage and discomfort.

Before Asher can have the surgery that could save his life, he needs a CT scan to precisely locate the liver shunt. This scan is the next crucial step, and it’s also where the financial burden becomes overwhelming.

Asher didn’t choose any of this, but he faces it all with so much sweetness and trust. I just want to give him the chance to live a healthy, comfortable, and happy life—the one he deserves. That’s why I’m asking for help, and why this GoFundMe means everything to us.
