Hi, I’m Nicki Isaacs — a mum, advocate, writer, and full-time carer to my amazing neurodivergent child.

Earlier this year, I published my book, No Filter: Raising a Neurodivergent Child When the World Won’t Bend. I wrote it because I was exhausted, unheard, and clinging to humour and honesty to get through some of the hardest days of my life.

I didn’t sugarcoat anything. It’s not a parenting manual. It’s real life — the unfiltered version of what it’s like when your child is too anxious to leave the house, when services fail you again and again, when you’re told to “just bring her in anyway” by people who get to clock off at 5pm.

Since launching the book, something surprising (and hopeful) has happened:

Many people working with autistic children only see part of the picture — the meltdown in the classroom, the missed appointment, the disengaged parent.

They don’t always get to see the whole iceberg beneath the surface.

This book helps them understand.

And when they understand, they can do better.

I want to raise funds to print and post copies of my book to professionals working with autistic individuals — people who may never pick it up otherwise, but who would genuinely benefit from the insight.
