Hi, my name is Cameron.
I’m 23 years old and I’m fundraising to help myself get transgender healthcare.
As most people know, I identify as a transgender man.
I have been identifying as this for roughly 4-5 years now, although I knew long before that ever since I was always playing Sports in school and always wearing men’s clothes from stealing my brothers close everyday just so I can look more masculine.
Even my body dysphoria was always bad even wearing these clothes bare that in mind and I ended up finding myself around 2022 when I went by my preferred name “Cameron” and it kinda just stuck with me. And even when people called me Cameron my head would just pop up straight away in reaction with yes that is me and that made me feel the most complete ever to be honest. So I felt like I have always known that I have always been this way.
It comes complications knowing I’m from a Muslim background which is known as a haram act yet but for the benefit for myself and my health this is the best way forward to go since I don’t feel comfortable in my body. It’s sucks since my parents do support me it’s just the stuff I need they don’t support with me and said they won’t come to my appointments specifically and other things as much as I want my parents by my side they won’t be but for the benefit for myself I really need to do this because I know within myself this is the right thing to do for myself.
I am not gonna keep you wondering about my story for too long, but I will tell you this. Transgender healthcare is very important to me and it can save many lives as a whole an as a community we need to stick together the best way possible. And for sure it will definitely save mine. And it will make me become who I need to be especially to be free from this body.
I have been on the NHS waiting list for a long time so far but however I could be waiting as long as 5 plus years just for an initial appointment. I have set my goal to £5,000. This is an approximation based on different factors such as differences in costs, depending on different clinics and also whether I chose to get certain treatments in the UK or outside the UK (top surgery). Etc etc
The costs will cover initial assessments, follow-up appointments, monthly hormone therapy, blood tests, and top surgery.
I will also be doing things to contribute to the costs myself also like trying to save some money and selling my clothes on vinted.
