Help Me Get To Wake Debate Camp!
Donation protected
My name is Falianne Forges and I am a debater in the Boston Debate League. I debate for Boston Latin Academy.
I am raising money to go to the Race Kritical Scholars Workshops at Wake Forest University this summer, a national debate camp in North Carolina . This debate camp is not only one of the best in the country, but it is also unique in that it is lead by the two most successful and amazing teachers of critical race debate pedagogy, Dr. Shanara Reid-Brinkley and Mr. Daryl Burch.
I cannot go unless I can raise $4,200 by the beginning of June.
I am extremely passionate about debate and am fundraising enough to attend the Race Kritical Scholars Workshops at Wake Forest Uni. It would be a great opportunity for me to advance my knowledge in critical race theory in debate and to grow as a more competitive debater. Debate camp is a place for me to learn more about social justice issues in an environment that I find culturally stimulating and inclusive to grow more as a critical debater.
I am currently a captain on my high school debate team. This past debate season I went 3-3 at the Lexington Winter Invitational and I ranked 13th speaker of the 66 teams that were there. I was the only one in my circuit to get in the top 15. At Lakeland I also went 3-3. This year my partner and I qualified for the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) and will be debating at nationals this coming June in Birmingham, Alabama. I plan on trying to get to the Tournament of Champions (TOC) next season, but I need help to do that. The best environment within which I can prosper is the Race Kritical Scholars (RKS) Workshops at Wake Forest University. However, the cost of the camp is too great for me to be able to afford. I am a hard worker, and I have high aspirations. I can make them become reality with the help of any and all donations received.
It would be a life changing experience, and my last chance to experience it because in the fall I will be entering my senior year of high school, and so it will be my last year of debate. I hope to make it a memorable one.
I would be so grateful to any and all that can donate to help me reach my goal. It would mean so much to me.
