Help me get to the Taekwon-Do World Cup Argentina
My name is Jay Pringle, I am 15 years old and live in the Gateshead area of Newcastle.
I have been studying with the International Tae-kwondo Federation (ITF) since the age of 5 and am now a second dan black belt, and am also in my second successive year with the ITF England National team. This means that I not only compete locally and nationally but also represent England internationally.
In 2023 I travelled to Finland to compete in the World championships, finishing third in my age and weight category and bringing home a bronze medal, which was an amazing achievement for myself and the team.
In 2024 I attended the European championships in Lublin, Poland, hoping to match the previous years result. I not only matched but bettered my previous year, winning gold in sparring, making me 15-17 under 50kg European Champion.
Since returning from the European championships I have taken part in a live radio interview with the BBC, who also ran an online article and have asked to follow my progress in any upcoming competitions.
I'm now looking forward to building on my recent victories by attending the World Cup in Argentina this year so that I can really test myself and put myself out there on the big international stage. The issue being that Tae-Kwondo is completely self funded and international competitions come with significant costs once you factor in travel and accomodation, especially as my mam has to travel with me because I'm under 18. So that's why we've created this page, in the hope that supportive people can help me reach my potential and continue to build my profile on the national and international circuits.
Any donations or support would be gratefully appreciated and should I not get close to my target any funds raised will be used for international competitions and training.
Thank you
Jay
