On April 17, 2022, I attended Easter service on a local church here in Columbus, Ohio. The pastor spoke on purpose. One thing that he said stick with me until.. “Purpose demands opportunity”. Throughout my time in school, I have wished for opportunities to fall into laps like droplets of rain. However, I quickly learned that it take more than just sitting down and allowing things to be handed to you. I worked hard, got good grades, earned my leisure to afford the educational opportunities such as scholarships and grants, and waited on the Lord present each opportunity. On this past February, I received the news of a lifetime. After many competing against a pool applications, I’m proud to announce that I’ll be interning this summer with the Department of Homeland Security/ Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Washington DC. And God doesn’t stop there… but granted me ANOTHER internship in Memphis, TN under the Memphis Teacher Residency where I will be serving as a Reading Teacher for grades 1-5. This program strives to break the learning barriers with socioeconomic communities in Memphis, proving that equal education matters. Both internships require my attendance, however, I unfortunately will be receiving financial assistance from each of them. Some assistance includes travel and living expenses to cover the entire summer while I will be away from Columbus, Ohio. With your help, I ask if you are able to kindly contribute any assistance that you can to help me successfully complete both of these positions with the financial worries of how I will be able to manage. If so, I would greatly appreciate it and I can’t wait to start this chapter and move forward to my future endeavors.
