Help Me Get to Richmond to Direct my Play this Summer!

Hi! My name is Kara Ratliff, I'm a junior at Honaker High School and I’m so excited to share that I recently won a statewide playwriting contest with an amazing organization called SPARC Richmond. As part of this incredible honor, SPARC is bringing me to Richmond, Virginia this summer to direct my very own play—alongside other youth actors who are just as passionate about theatre as I am!

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring my creative vision to life, gain hands-on directing experience, and connect with talented peers and mentors. It’s a huge step toward my dreams in the performing arts. I plan to major in theater and arts after high school, and this experience will be extremely helpful for my college resume.

While my travel and stay are covered by SPARC (thank you, SPARC!), unfortunately, my mom can’t afford to join me—and her support means everything to me. She's been by my side every step of the way, encouraging me, and helping me chase this dream.
