Help me get to Open Jar's Broadway Intensive!

Hi, I’m Sadie Short! I recently received the INCREDIBLE news that I am 1 of 60 high school students nationwide who was selected to attend the prestigious Open Jar Institute Broadway summer theater intensive in New York City. Open Jar is said to be “New York City’s premiere Broadway actor training program.” But I need your help to get there. This GoFundMe will help me raise the $5,535 needed to pay for my tuition, room and board, and flight from Oregon to NYC.

I fell in love with musical theater during my first role as Michael Banks in Mary Poppins in the fourth grade. I have since been cast as Annie in Annie Jr. and Amanda Thripp in Matilda Jr. in school productions. I also had the honor of playing Matilda in Matilda Jr. and Crush in Finding Nemo Jr. through Voices for the Performing Art Foundation. Most recently, I auditioned for my first semi-professional musical and got the role of Enid in Sleeping Beauty with the Portland Panto Players! The opportunity to attend the Open Jar Institute would be the chance of a lifetime. It is a week-long intensive with one-on-one training with some of Broadway’s biggest stars, performers, directors, choreographers, agents and casting directors in the heart of Times Square. It is designed to push students to be the absolute best they can be. I would treasure the experience of being fully immersed in the musical theater scene of Broadway. I also get the opportunity to showcase my works in front of several casting professionals at the end of the week.

The Broadway intensive runs from July 7 – July 13. The total cost to make this dream happen comes down to these 3 factors:

TUITION $3,195

Includes all studio fees associated with masterclasses in acting, singing, dance, and audition techniques – all taught by some of Broadway’s best performers, directors, and choreographers. Tuition also includes all meals and tickets to 3 Broadway shows.

HOUSING $1,890

Includes a six-night stay in student housing in a nearby Times Square hotel (includes a bed for my mom to accompany me).

FLIGHT $300-450
