Hi there!
If you don't know me, I'm Danielle. I'm a full-time personal trainer and Les Mills Trainer, Assessor, and Presenter with a huge opportunity available that I never thought was possible - shadow training BodyCombat 100 Filming in Auckland City, New Zealand!!! But first, let me take you through the journey on how I got to this point.
I started my group fitness journey in 2018 with no idea how much it would change my life (I actually hated working out). I fell in love with Zumba first and slowly started integrating Les Mills programs - my favorite being BodyCombat. In 2019, I became a certified BodyCombat instructor and then the journey began.
For 2 years, I couldn't get a class to teach - COVID was a factor but I kept getting closed door after closed door. On the verge of completely walking away, I made a conscious decision to go all in. I spend countless hours practicing with no class in sight until I finally got an opportunity to teach at a club - only to have to build it from nothing. Yet another moment of wanting to give in, I kept pressing forward and built the class from just my mom attending to 15+ in 8 months after the initial class.
In those pivotal moments of wanting to quit, built a hunger and deep passion for what I get to do. I applied that mindset when auditioning for the Les Mills TAP team in 2022. Before live auditions, I quit my corporate job to pursue this life dream with no guarantee (crazy I know). A few weeks later, I found out I made the team and it made stepping out on faith worth it.
The months leading up to finding out I'd be shadow presenting BodyCombat 100 Filming have been full of developmental growth from a career aspect but moreso mental/emotional. The journey has solidified my love for inspiring the people connected to me: to dream big, to believe in yourself, to keep pushing when it looks impossible, and to remain humble when it comes to pass. More importantly this moment is monumental for the brown skin girls/boys who look like me to know that if you want to be the change - you have to decide to take the first step.
xx,
Danielle
