Help Me Live Out However Much Time I Have Left On The Planet In My Dream Home (Instead Of Some Crappy Nursing Home) With My Cats, Another Amazing Woman With EDS, Her Bunch Of Silkie Chickens, and Eerily Smart, Cool Dog!
Hello, friends and fellow Chronic Illness travelers --
I know many of you have been following along with my journey for some time now, so I'll keep this as succinct yet riveting as possible. I have within the past year learned that my subtype of Ehlers Danlos is the terminal variety -- Vascular Ehlers Danlos. Because ever the drama queen, I like to do things up Fancy. Within that same three month period, I also learned I have a particular disorder that is causing cell-growth in my carotid arteries, leading to some very painful and unpleasant symptoms, the worst of which could ultimately lead to stroke (because, again, Fancy). Then, because Terrible Things always happen in threes, my roommate, dear friend, and father figure since my late teens, passed away.
Hence, I also discovered I had only a couple of months to find a place to live; with no job, in poor health, no prospects, who would be willing to take my cats as well...well, you get the picture. Homelessness loomed large. I have just been denied my first go at disabilty, my social service agency's only advice has been to "try a nursing home, sorry about your cats".
But then, as if some sort of Chronic Genetic Condition Fairy waved her Adaptive Wand, this amazing woman came into my life, needing a housemate, to make her dream work. Alone, we were screwed, and bound for nursing homes and palliative care, alone. Together, we might just make it in this Historic house, with the help of social services and a bit of Fatih, and Friendship. And, of course, our faithful animals.
Please, help us make our dream happen. Give whatever you can, so these not-so-old Crones can spend their time in good company, in Sisterhood, surrounded by grass and trees and animals, instead of machines and hospital beds and strangers.
Thank you for reading.
