I was recently diagnosed with a tumor in my lower abdomen and colon. For the past three years, I have been unable to work because I was asked to move in and care for my parents. My mom, who was suffering from Alzheimer's, was injured by a previous caregiver, and my dad was battling cancer. I put my own health and needs aside to make sure they were cared for, and my life was put on hold. Now, I am facing my own health crisis and have limited access to transportation. My only close family member nearby is my daughter, who is also struggling with multiple health conditions, making it difficult for her to help me get to my urgent medical appointments. I have no money for copays or gas, and I live at least forty-five minutes away from the care I need. I have always taken care of my family, putting everyone before myself. At 55 years old, I am terrified that I have let my own health go too long. I have three daughters, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson who need me, and I am not ready to leave this world yet.
When my dad passed, he made arrangements so my sister and I could support each other. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, the financial support he intended for me was not made available, and I was left to pay all the bills with no income. I am currently filing for disability, but that process takes time—time I don't have as my health needs are urgent. My dad worked tirelessly to care for his family, always putting us first, and I have tried to do the same. Asking for help is very hard for me because I am a private person, but I know that sometimes we all need a little support. Any amount you can give will bring me one step closer to getting the care I need. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. God bless you all.
