Help Me Get to Hopkins: Plastic Surgery Research Fellowship
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Briana A. Griffin, and I’m a third-year medical student at Meharry Medical College with a passion for plastic and reconstructive surgery.
This summer, I was honored with an opportunity to join the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins as a Research Trainee. This is a competitive, career-defining role—one that will allow me to collaborate on projects with leading plastic surgeons on impactful projects in burn reconstruction, upper extremity surgery, peripheral nerve repair, and more. Johns Hopkins is one of the top institutions in the country for both research and plastic surgery innovation, and this experience will allow me to gain invaluable skills while contributing to work that shapes the future of patient care.
Plastic surgery is so much more than what meets the eye. It touches every kind of patient, from trauma survivors to children born with craniofacial differences. As a first-generation medical student and woman of color, I am committed to using this field to bridge the gaps in care and bring representation to spaces where it's been missing. I understand the importance of representation in medicine, and I want to bring compassion and visibility to this field.
Unfortunately, this fellowship is unpaid, and I’ll be relocating to Baltimore, MD for nearly a year (July 2025–May 2026). I’m asking for your help to fund my housing, transportation, and daily living expenses so I can focus on making the most of this amazing opportunity and alleviate some of the financial strain.
Every donation helps, whether it’s $5 or simply sharing this link. Your support brings me one step closer to breaking barriers and building a more inclusive future in plastic surgery.
Thank you for believing in me and for your continued support.
