Help Me Attend Fusion Academy
Donation protected
Hey everyone! Dominique with Locs by Dom, here.
I'm asking for your help in reaching one of my goals for the next few years: Getting licensed by the Illinois State Board to braid, style and cut natural hair. Illinois has a separate specialist license for those who go into hair braiding as a profession. To become a licensed hair braider in this state, I am required to go through a 300-hour training course at an approved school. Enter Fusion Braiding Academy. After attending their open house I have decided that it is the school for me. The facility is a great fit to hone my existing skills as well as learn new techniques and be able to service more clients. The drawback? It's 4500.00 for the course and requires a time commitment that will take me away from the shop, my primary source of income, for the majority of my day. Add to that, the location of the school is 1 hour away, without traffic, increasing my fuel costs. At this time, there isn't financial aid available through Fusion, nor am I eligible through the state (I have reached my aggregate limit here lol) That is why I'm earnestly trying to raise 10,000. The class is 16 weeks and while 4500 will go directly to Fusion Academy, the remaining balance will go to my rent and bills at home, my booth rent at Lincoln Ave, and fuel expenses for my commute. To my current and potential clients, I offer you this, a discount equal to 2x your donations up to the cost of your service. Yes, that potentially means a future service from Locs by Dom for free.99! If you can't donate, please share with friends and family! Thank you in advance for your support.
