Hi Everyone,
My name is Josh Faulds, and I’m a GB international 400m hurdler and 4x400m runner. I’ve dedicated nearly my entire adult life to becoming one of the best hurdlers in the world.
Athletics is not a well-funded sport, and to date myself, my family and kind local supporters have funded my career. working full-time jobs while training, and now training full-time while working most evenings just to cover the bills.
2025 was a breakthrough year for me:
• 2nd place at the British Indoor Championships (400m)
• European Indoor Bronze Medal and National Record in the mixed 4x400m Relay—my first senior major international medal
• Represented Team GB at the World Relays in China, finishing 4th in the mixed and 6th in the men’s final
• 400m hurdles personal best of 48.59, ranking 9th on the UK all-time list, 14th in Europe, and 35th in the world
Midway through the year, I suffered an injury which halted my progress, and ultimately didn’t enable me to make the World Champs team in Tokyo but it’s all part of being an elite athlete and has only fuelled my determination for next year.
I’ve never had financial sponsorship, I don’t have savings as I’ve put everything into being able to do what I love. I’ve always had the drive to keep going.
Im fortunate enough to have the support from Citroen UK in providing me a vehicle to help me get to and from training and competitions. With that I supported at the national Championships giving out medals and talking with people on behalf of Citroen.
I recently signed a kit and bonus deal with Joma Running for the 2026 season. While this covers my kit expenses and some potential earnings for next season, it doesn’t provide a salary, which means funding my season remains a major challenge.
This is where I need your support. With the European Championships and Commonwealth Games both in the UK next year, and having already achieved the qualification standards, this could be my opportunity to reach the next level in my career.
This support would help cover the costs of day-to-day living and contribute towards warm-weather training camps, which have been critical to my development over the past few years but are becoming increasingly expensive. Attending these camps also means taking time away from work, resulting in a complete loss of income during those periods.
Similarly, when selected for major championships and international teams, I am again unable to work. For example, while competing at the European Indoor Championships and World Relays last summer, I was without income for a five-week period.
