Hey,

It's Tracy... My friend Nigel died by suicide on the 31st of December '99 near Takaka in the South Island of New Zealand.

I moved to Ireland in June, 2000.

In 2022 I finally found his Mum, Christine ... see above :-)

I made a promise that I would get back to her and fulfil her dream to finally visit the site where Nigel died.

This December will be Nigel's 25th anniversary.

I'm asking for help to buy a flight ticket to get back to Christine before the 31st of December.

1999 is the year of Nigel's death.
€1999 is the rough price of the current cheapest ticket to fly from Cork, Ireland, to Christchurch, New Zealand, anytime in December - the 24th of December. I would arrive on the 26th of December to Christine.

Honestly, I feel ashamed that I can't buy a flight ticket at this very moment... and that I'm reaching out on platforms I rarely use, let alone engage with, exposing myself and my wee head and heart.

I have struggled with my mental health over my years, however, there's a higher purpose in all of this and I gotta follow my heart.

I am now rooted in forward momentum to help others get through their own struggles. It's clear to me now, that this is my soul purpose in life.

My 3 most current plans:

Get to Nigel's Mum for his 25th Anniversary
Volunteer '99 hours in aid of Mental Health between now and Christmas.
Building an online platform to help people experiencing Depression live life with meaning, whilst applying for the 'Back to Work Enterprise' scheme in Ireland.

A Little History...

At the age of 18, following Nigel's suicide and my family breakdown, I moved from my home, New Zealand, back to my birthplace, Ireland, in June of 2000 with my Mum, younger brother and 3 suitcases each.

I've experienced depression more times than I can count. When thoughts turned to suicide, my brain said "If Nigel can't do it, neither can I".

In April 2021, my Dad died of suicide. Last year, February 2023, my friend Chris died by suicide.

I found a breaking point recently and since then have made actions to move forward to a more sustainable future. One such action is following through on getting back to Christine.

We have spoken on the phone.

Yesterday via email, the 02nd of October 2024, I found the New Zealand Department of Conservation guy (ranger) that found Nigel in his car almost 25 years ago. I can't believe it.

He's offered to meet us at Nigel's place of death in December.

I have to go. I have to buy a ticket - Cork, Ireland, to Christchurch, New Zealand.

I'm asking for help.
