Help me get to Berlin to restore my eyesight !

Please support my fundraising event - Marathon walk August 2021

As some of you are aware, glaucoma remains a condition what cannot be cured and is one of main causes of childhood and adulthood blindness. With my condition being especially rare (primary congenital glaucoma) I have lived with the uncertainty of this condition since being diagnosed at age 1. As much as I have been able to live a relatively normal life, over the years my vision has got worse and there is currently no treatment available on the NHS or privately in the uk to restore my sight,

However, I have recently been fortunate enough to come across a life changing opportunity ‘The Federov restore vision clinic’ Who claim by using electrical stimulation from the brain to the optic nerve there may be a chance my vision can be restored and improved. The treatment wont cure the condition but the treatment is by far my best chance I have had of retaining vision.

I’m currently unable to drive due to my vision and hope this treatment might make that difference for me, my independence and my quality of life. There is no guarantee of success or if I will respond to the treatment but there have been many successful cases with people having the same condition as me.

My family will pay for all the treatment I need but now I am 17 I would love to be able to contribute in some way to all the additional costs involved, still in education I thought about a sponsored marathon walk as I have always successfully raised funds for Moorfields in this way. The difference being this time I walk 26 miles instead of 4!

The initial treatment will mean a 2 week stay in Berlin as I will need to have access to the clinic for 12 days of treatment. This post is not only about asking for your support with my fundraising but also to raise awareness of this condition. A condition that is so destructive and can effect anyone at anytime.

I will also be donating funds to other children with my condition so they can also have this opportunity. I continue to support Moorfields eye hospital charity too.

The future of my eye sight is still unknown but results I could gain from this treatment would honestly be priceless and words cannot describe how much would mean to me . It would give me the chance I’ve been waiting for to live life to its full potential and to raise awareness that can help others like me.

Eyesight is probably the most precious thing you have - losing it is devastating x

Lastly, get your eyes checked REGULARLY! Glaucoma is called the silent thief of sight for a reason! Most people do not know they have it or have any symptoms until it is too late x

Thank you for your support
