Help me get the surgeries, I urgently need.
Donation protected
Hi again, I’m Tamara — and I want to start with the biggest, warmest thank you.
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of so many incredible people, I was able to have my first surgery earlier this year. Honestly, I still get emotional thinking about the way friends, family, and even strangers rallied around me. That support quite literally changed the course of my life — and I’m eternally grateful.
Now I’m heading into round two: surgery to remove the brain tumour we discovered during the whirlwind of tests and specialists that followed my car accident last year. It’s scheduled for July 17, and while I wish I had more time to figure out the funding, the reality is that this tumour isn’t the kind you wait around for — and neither is the cost.
This surgery is $26,000. I have a little left over from the previous fundraiser (again, thank you!), so I’m aiming to raise the remaining $20,000 to cover it.
A lot of people have asked why Medicare or private health isn’t covering this. I wish they did — but with something this serious and time-sensitive, going through the public system would mean months of waiting if not longer. And unfortunately, the rebate from Medicare and my health fund doesn’t come close to covering my out of pocket expenses.
So once again, with a hopeful heart (and a healthy dose of humility), I’m reaching out.
If you’re in a position to donate — whether it’s a little or a lot — I’d be so incredibly grateful. And if not, sharing this with your network would mean the world too.
I’m going into this next surgery with a lot of nerves… but also a lot of hope. If the first one was about relieving the pain, this one’s about protecting my future — my memory, my ability to speak, to think, to just be me.
Thank you again for being part of this journey. I honestly couldn’t do it without you.
With all my love and gratitude,
T
