Help Me Pay Off My Student Debt So I Can Leave Puerto Rico!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marceline. I am an artist and student trying to get my bachelor's degree in psychology. This year, due to changes in laws and my transphobic parents, I haven't been able to keep up with the debt of my studies. I can't apply for most scholarships due to my parents' income; moreover, I don't see any of the money they make, so I have been paying out of pocket for the past 4 years. I lost my job and haven't been able to find another job due to the horrible state of the current job market, as well as the discrimination I face as a trans woman. I live alone with my cat Waffle, and I barely have money to afford food for the both of us, let alone my college tuition. Moreover, my car has started to give me trouble, and I have no idea how much fixing it could set me back. I've been struggling with all of this for multiple years, mostly on my own as an autistic trans woman in a very, very conservative part of Puerto Rico.
I hope to finish my studies and move to Oregon with a close friend, where I will find a new job with my college degree. But with every passing day, it has become harder and harder for me to push over the growing pile of adversities in my way. Although I have the support of my partners, they live off the island and can only provide me with enough to get me through a couple of days at a time. My eldest sister has also pitched in when possible, but we don't know what else to do.
I appreciate every single bit of help I can get, whether it be a direct donation or a share of this page to spread the word.
