Help Us Bring Nan Home – Emergency Medical Flight Needed!!

Hi, my name is Joanne. I took my family — including my 5 children, my partner, and my 86-year-old nan — on a long-awaited holiday to Antalya, Turkey. What was meant to be a joyful trip quickly turned into a nightmare.

On just the second day, my nan slipped and fell in the shower, suffering a serious spinal fracture. She was rushed to Anatolia Hospital, and ever since, things have gone from bad to worse.

Although she has travel insurance, we’ve had no real support. The hospital staff have not treated her with care or dignity. She is completely bedridden and in severe pain — yet she’s only being given paracetamol. Her meals are left out of reach, cold, and uneaten. She can't sit up, and no one is helping feed her — I've had to bring food in from our hotel just so she can eat.

Worse, her cannula keeps coming out and is being painfully shoved back in, causing swelling and bruising. Basic hygiene like changing her urine bag is being ignored. One night, I left for just an hour to shower, and she called me crying because she’d been ringing her call bell and no one came. She didn’t even get her pain meds until over two hours late.

This is heartbreaking to witness.

She now has a kidney infection from the lack of care. The hospital is pushing for surgery, but I don’t want her to suffer any more here. She deserves to be back in the UK, surrounded by her family and proper medical care.

The only safe way to get her home is by air ambulance, which costs £52,000. This is far beyond anything I could manage on my own, so I’m asking for help — from friends, from kind strangers, from anyone who might be able to support us.
