Help Me Get My Mom to Moffit Cancer Hospital ASAP

Donation protected
I honestly should’ve written this sooner, but stringing together sentences is tough after a seizure, and even worse when they’re;

My mom has cancer and I don’t know what to do and I really need help,”

My mother’s name is Angelia Byrd. She’s 49 years old and has 2 daughters, Cassidy (22), and myself, Jessica (30). Not even mentioning the dozens of kids with unstable homes she’s become a mother to. My mom also served her community in the healthcare field as an EMT and a CNA for many many years. As expected, her disability check is barely anything.

One day in March, after terrible stomach pain, going for weeks, and fevers, my mother ended up being admitted into the hospital for over a month for a cancerous tumor to be removed from her colon, along with a bowel resection and gall bladder removed. The incision, later became infected and she ended up back in the hospital for debridement. The tumor in the colon is gone, but they see TWO small colon cancer spots on the liver.

After more time in the hospital, and getting healed, we found out from an MRI, that the spots on the liver are too numerous to count.

Moffit Cancer Hospital in Tampa has agreed to take my mom as a patient. They’re on a ton of cutting edge stuff and she will have her own team of doctors and nurses. Insurance will pay for most of it, I only need help getting her there.

What I need is money for extra bills, travel expenses, masks, medical supplies, and copays since I’m unemployed at the moment due to my epilepsy flaring up again. I plan to fly my mother one way to Tampa, because on chemo, there’s no way she can make an 8 hour drive and 1 way plane tickets are MUCH cheaper than vehicle rentals/gas/food/the time spent traveling.

Mom has appointments June 23 and July 15 so there’s no telling if they’ll be able to combine the visit into one like we hope, but I’m trying to plan for two trips while job hunting and taking care of her with Cassidy, here at home in between.

It’d be her first time flying and kind of a bucket list item, but she wishes it could be on happier terms.

Any leftover donations will go to Moffit Cancer Hospital in Tampa.

Thank you so much for reading. Time is truly of the essence. Even if it’d been caught earlier, the procedure to diagnose it would’ve been considered elective surgery under covid19 protocols.

Please help us save our mom.
