I grew up abused and impoverished, moving through the CPS system and later finding myself in an abusive adult relationship. For years, I coped by eating my feelings, which led to significant weight gain. Determined to change, I began a journey to improve my health and well-being. After having four children and undergoing four c-sections, I was left with extra hanging skin that made daily life uncomfortable. My weight loss journey led me to bariatric surgery, and while I am proud of how far I’ve come, the significant weight loss has left me with even more excess skin.

This past year has been especially challenging. I lost my mother, experienced a miscarriage, and took in my sister and her children to support them during a difficult time. With my husband currently deployed, I have had to put my own needs on the back burner to care for my family and cope with these losses. Now, I am saving for skin removal surgery. This next step is about more than just appearance, it’s about gaining comfort, confidence, and the freedom to fully enjoy life with my family. The extra skin affects my mobility and self-esteem, and removing it would make a huge difference in my daily life.
