My car was impounded by SDPD due to new parking laws. I parked at a meter but didn't have enough quarters, expecting just a ticket, but instead my car was towed. I'm not working right now, and my unemployment benefits aren't enough to help. I'm also in recovery and struggling to keep my head above water. I almost gave up, but I want to fight for it and do things differently—I'm asking for help.

The funds will go directly to paying the impound fees at the impound lot. Getting my car back is more than just transportation—it's a lifeline that will help me reconnect with life, continue my recovery, and get back to helping others in my community.

I've spent my career helping others—five years in child welfare, a year at the county psychiatric hospital, and over ten years with the County of San Diego's Department of Animal Services. I love helping people and animals, and I've been fortunate not to need to ask for help until now. I hope some of the good karma I've put out into the world comes back to me.
