I hate asking for help. I’ve always prided myself on being fiercely independent. Unfortunately, it’s come to the point that I need to ask for some help for my sweetest boy, Gunnar.
As many of you know, he’s been battling Cushings Disease and bouts of debilitating laminitis. This time last year he was actually at OSU for nearly a week battling this awful illness. Laminitis is similar to diabetes in humans and horses can actually lose their feet if it gets bad enough. Although I have pet insurance on Gunnar, I reached my limit awhile back.
Right now he’s suffering from his worst bout of laminitis yet.
• His monthly prescription of Stelgatro to control his insulin costs me $770/month.
• He’s getting regular radiographs on his feet and insulin checks at $550 a pop.
• My credit card is nearing its max and I’m scared to death I won’t be able to afford to give him the care he needs to bring him back to health.
Over the past five years, Gunnar has brought smiles to countless individuals – from visiting senior centers to delighting children in parades, but most of all to me. He is my heart and soul. My heart horse. If you’re able to help, even a little, it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for your support.
