Hi folks- I hope you are all well. A while back, many of you were generous donating to a fundraiser I took up to buy clothes and other essentials for a family shelter in my neighborhood in Ridgewood. I raised $2,000 and spent it all at discount dept. stores to buy tons of stuff which the residents have been enjoying. Now I ask your help again. I've been reporting a bit on the unprecedented migrant crisis in NYC - literally hundreds if not thousands of migrants arriving in NYC from Venezuela and other Latin American countries every day, nearing 20,000 so far. NYC's Dept of Homeless Services (DHS), doing all it can to house migrant families and individuals in hotels, shelters and pop-up tent sites, desperately needs massive supplies for them—warm clothes of all sorts, diapers, formula, book bags, school supplies and more. DHS told me that if I did the big shop, they'd arrange to meet me at the stores to pick up all the stuff. Would you please donate something? There is a humanitarian crisis happening in the city right here under our nose. Our donations can help make the first NYC winter for these folks, who only want to work and live in a safe place for themselves and their kids, a little more bearable.
