Hello Everyone!!

Having gone through a stroke, my wife Marjorie is no longer able to work, and I have exhausted my sick leave and personal leave in caring for her.

I am Stephen Wingo, and I am requesting assistance for my wife, Marjorie Wingo. She suffered a stroke in April 2022. She was released 84 days later from a Raleigh, NC hospital. As well as being her caregiver, I have been able to support my wife through the use of FMLA and my personal sick and vacation leave.

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7

After meeting in Kuwait while working for the US government, we were married in Manila eleven months later. It took 14 months for us to finally be able to continue in the United States.
The love we shared was genuine beyond a shadow of a doubt. In addition to attending sporting events, watching her favorite movies, going to the gym, walking in the park, playing strategy games, and taking great pictures together, she has lived her life to the fullest. We also benefited from her nail technician skills for over a decade.

Despite being very active and healthy, this was my wife's first time lying helpless in a hospital on April 19, 2022. After experiencing a severe stroke, she was left paralyzed on the left side and had neurological defects that affected her throat, right eye, tongue, and left-side motor skills. After ten days in the intensive care unit, she was moved to a floor. A feeding tube was inserted in her nose and surgically inserted into her stomach after she was unable to eat by mouth. I visited her twice a day and occasionally stayed overnight.

Because of this emergency, I was granted family leave. I usually work 20 hours less per week than I used to, and night or site differentials are not paid. In the last three months, my monthly income has decreased by an average of $1,700.00. Due to her disability, my wife is unable to work again for about a year if at all, as her salary is based on commission. As a minimum, she has lost a total of $3,800.00, for a total loss of household income of $8,900.00. My sick and vacation leave has run out, and I can't afford full-time care.

Think about being an active, healthy individual who suffers a stroke, becomes disabled, and spends months in the hospital. Would it be difficult to survive for you if you had to rely on a wheelchair, did not have enough space at home, and didn't have a caregiver to care for you all the time?

She has been in rehabilitation for 11 months since leaving the hospital. I have been caring for her every day without returning to work, hoping she will get better. As a result, we remain in a critical financial situation, losing $34,749.00 in household income from last year. I must now transition into early retirement, and ultimately new work.
Our fight will continue.

I would like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration. We always appreciate your help. May God bless you for any assistance.
