Help me Get Back to Zero!

Donation protected
I should have done this a month ago when I had surgery. On Oct 17 I went into Brooklyn hospital to have an inguinal hernia repaired and a lypoma removed from my neck (yes at the same time).  I was home that day and am recovering well, but the fact is I have barely been able to work. And even though I feel fine now, I’m not supposed to lift anything heavy for at least another month.  Which in my line of work is a big handicap.

Why $7500? My rent is $2150 for a tiny 2 bedroom apartment for my son and myself. I had just moved in when I had the surgery so I was pretty cleaned out from the deposit, the move and buying all new stuff for housekeeping. With no savings to fall back on I am now a month behind on rent, going on two months. And the landlord was kind enough to let me move in without paying an additional month deposit, so I owe him that as well. The rest is to help me catch up on bills and (hopefully) be back to square one by Christmas.

That’s my main goal here: To get back to zero so I’m not playing catchup. Which could involve the temptation to re-injure myself by taking work I shouldn’t be doing.  And so I don’t spend too much time away from home. It’s just me and my son during the week. He’s very high functioning autistic, fairly independent but he also needs some extra attention and in general a consistent home life. I wake him up every morning, make him breakfast and lunch and send him off to school. And I help him w his homework and make dinner every night. I can’t take any work that interferes with that.

So that’s it.  I need to take care of my son.  And be able to visit my mom at a moment’s notice.  She’s getting on in years and has had a couple health incidents recently.

For those of you who expected me to be crowdfunding a music project, this will help with that as well. If only by relieving me of some stress and freeing up some time to create.

I’ve never done anything like this before.  I’ve worked hard all my life and been notoriously independent. And I will continue to work hard.  But right now I need to weather this storm, for my sake and for my son. I appreciate your help.  And I will use the assistance to get back on my feet and stay there. Only better.
