Hi everyone,
I never imagined I would be writing something like this, but I’m reaching out during a moment where I truly need help.
The day after Christmas, during extremely heavy rain, I was involved in a car accident after hydroplaning. The conditions were dangerous, and unfortunately, I wasn’t the only driver affected on the I-5 that day. Even so, the outcome has been life-altering for me. At the time of the accident, my insurance had just expired; a mistake I take full responsibility for and one I’ve learned from deeply. Once my car is fixed, I will never allow my insurance to lapse again.
My car is not just transportation; it is essential to my livelihood and to my family. I am a registered behavior technician and use my car full-time to support children with level 2 and level 3 autism. Because my work follows a school-based schedule, my income has already been cut nearly in half, and without my car, it’s been even harder to stay afloat.
Outside of work, I am also a caregiver for my mom, who has multiple sclerosis, and my aunt, who lives with her and has epilepsy and dementia. I help get them to appointments, errands, and wherever they need to be. I’ve always been the person willing to give rides, help others get where they need to go, and show up when someone needs support; now I’m humbly asking for that same kindness.
I’ve had this car for five years, have never been in an accident before, and only have two years left on the financing. Now, every expense related to the accident has to be paid completely out of pocket, and while I’ve tried to rely on my savings, it simply isn’t enough.
Any amount of help would mean more than I can express. If you’re unable to donate, even sharing this page could make a difference! Maybe someone I know, or someone I don’t, might be able to help. I’m also more than willing to do small odd jobs or help however I can in return.
This accident was truly out of my control, but the consequences are something I’m facing head-on with humility and gratitude for any support I receive. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, for donating if you’re able, and for sharing if you can.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me get back on my feet.
