Hi, my name is Rashel, a cat mom to 8 rescued kitties, and I’m reaching out during a really difficult time. My tiny, special-needs dwarf kitty, Shakey, has captured hearts everywhere—her video has nearly half a million views in 48 hours—but while the love is overwhelming, our reality at home is urgent.

We need $2,000 immediately to cover November rent and bills. Our rent was due November 1, and as of today, November 5, we’re already behind. Late fees are being added daily, and I’m doing everything I can to earn income by doing deliveries—even with a swollen foot—since my car was totaled. Most of what I earn goes toward a rental car I need to keep working, as well as my cat’s necessities, which run out quickly, like litter, food, and supplies..

On top of this, we’re dealing with a dangerous and unresolved floor issue in our apartment. I was able to get a free attorney due to my no-income situation, but the apartment has completely ignored his letter from October 3. It’s November now. After a month of inaction, my “free” attorney said he had to close my case, saying there’s nothing more he could do, even if they are choosing to not response. The apartment knows I can’t afford a private attorney, and yet they’ve taken no responsibility. Since July 7, my floor is in the same condition it’s been. But I refuse to give up—I will not let them treat us this way.

Shakey has lived outside for five years, TNR’d and left to survive on her own, despite being disabled. She is fragile, can’t defend herself, and still survived—she deserves a safe, loving home. Everything I do is for her and my other cats, and I’m fighting to keep a roof over our heads.
