Hi, I’m Lucy - a nature-lover, AuDHDer, and now, newly disabled.
Before Covid, I was an active, outdoorsy person - always walking, riding and getting into the muddiest paths I could find. Being outside wasn’t just something I loved - it was how I felt most like myself.
But since Long Covid, and the onset of chronic illness and mobility issues, I’ve lost access to much of that world. I can no longer walk long distances, and even using my current wheelchair or mobility scooter, I’m limited to smooth, urban surfaces.
The wild spaces I used to find peace in are now physically out of reach.
That’s why I’ve started @bloomindisabled, a project where I scatter wildflower seeds from my wheels in forgotten or unloved places, both as a form of quiet protest and personal healing.
Now I’m raising funds for an off-road mobility scooter, one that would let me:
• Access nature again, not just from the sidelines
• Continue spreading wildflowers and plant trees beyond pavements and paths
• Reconnect with the woodlands, fields, and trails that make me feel alive
• Advocate for access and visibility for others navigating new disability
This scooter would mean freedom, independence, and restoration — a way back to the parts of myself I’ve been grieving.
If you believe in rewilding, disability visibility, or simply want to help someone get back to the places they love, I’d be incredibly grateful for your support. Every donation, share, or kind word helps.
With love and muddy dreams,
Lucy
