Hi, my name is Funmi Oduwaiye. I’m a former basketball player, transitioned to para-athletics after a life-altering series of surgeries starting in 2019. My para athletic journey with shot put and discus started in 2022 and I have most recently represented Great Britain at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

I’m raising funds for a new, specialised throwing leg — one that will allow me to train and compete at the highest level in my sport.

Athletics has given me purpose, confidence, and a platform to inspire others who live with disabilities and other diverse traits. But to continue growing and reaching my full potential in throwing events, I need a prosthetic leg specifically designed for the powerful demands of this sport. These legs are highly customized and expensive, far beyond what I can afford on my own.

I’m a passionate, determined athlete , and someone who has never let adversity define my limits. This new throwing leg will not only help me compete — it will give me the freedom to move, train, and push past boundaries I once thought impossible. It will help me show the world that nothing, not even the sudden loss of use in a limb, can stop someone with a strong spirit and will by the grace of God.
