Help me get a muscle biopsy
Donation protected
3 years ago I was forced to quit both of my jobs and then a third and fourth later on because of increasingly debilitating muscle pains. The last job I worked, I was routinely sent home or to clinics and ERs for major spasms and cramping. As far as I'vebeen told, in still employedbut I am not allowed to work at all until either this is sorted out or I quit. After a year of repeated blood tests, MRIs, switching doctors, getting various prescriptions for muscle relaxers, NSAIDs, steroids, lidocaine, and even gabapentin; and getting nowhere, my neurologist basically told me that he isn't qualified to diagnose my issue and has just been wasting time. He says he will not schedule another appointment, and he will not see me again. All I have to show for my issue is a test result that shows I have some kind of muscle wasting. My neurologist says that's neuromuscular issue, so he'll refer me to a neuromuscular specialist. Turns out my hospital doesn't have one, and I don't qualify for medicaid. I've been told by my doctor that I'm being referred for a muscle biopsy in kansas city. The problem is that I've been told this procedure will cost "somewhere between $10,000 and $15,000" This university surgeon I've been referred to won't even see me unless I have at least $300 to hand over on my first visit. I'm broke and my savings are gone. I can't work. I need to see this doctor.
