Hello, my name is Daniel O'Brien.

I’m fundraising to cover the cost of essential add-ons for my new Sunrise QUICKIE Q300 M powered wheelchair. The NHS is kindly providing the wheelchair itself, but unfortunately, they do not cover certain key components that would make a huge difference to my independence and quality of life.

As a lifelong wheelchair user due Cerebral Palsy, it is disappointing that I am having to crowdfund such add-ons. Because I don't believe I or other disabled people should have to fight for things that will make our lives and that of others around us easier.

The most important items I need are:

The Riser Component – allowing me to elevate and adjust my seating position, helping me with daily activities, such as shopping (reaching items on shelves), accessing cupboards in my own home, seeing clearly at events, interacting with others at eye level and much more.

This part has been been quoted as £1700 by the NHS.

Lighting Add-Ons – ensuring I can safely and confidently get around in low-light conditions, especially when out with my son.

Estimate at a cost of £300-400.

As a father, my greatest wish is to be as independent as possible for my son and to actively take part in his life. These additions to my wheelchair will give me the freedom to manage everyday tasks more easily and safely, while also enabling me to be there for him without barriers holding me back.
