This is a painful decision I've had to make but this is how my future has to be. Arizona's community healthcare services have poor funding and access to healthcare. I no longer can afford to see a doctor in this state, even for primary care, because I no longer make enough money given the wages typical of this state to afford it. So I've made the decision to try to move back to the east coast so that I could access healthcare.
Doctors in Arizona have verbatim told me that this state does not have the testing or resources to help somebody with my metabolic-hormonal issues. It is getting to a point where I need to find out what is actually going on so I can understand how to live my life so I can live it to the fullest.
That is one primary reason.
The others are much more straightforward. I do not make enough money in the seasonal Arizona economy. So I will be looking for more work in the major metropolitan areas on the east coast.
I want to be close to my family again and have that support.
I want to also support my mentee, who is in Toronto, and support my sibling in Pittsburgh. I will have my car, so I will be able to drive to them.
I also frankly have not had good physical and mental health in Arizona due to the way the weather (or lack of) interacts with my fibromyalgia. It impacts my attendance and performance at work and I just can't manage it that well anymore, I want to live.
I want to be near the ocean and bay and trees and forests and water again. This is one of the grounding techniques I've had for a long time that I've been deprived of that's genuinely impacted my coping skills. I don't tolerate dry weather, lack of humidity etc. well.
My plan is to take a U-Haul tow trailer and drive across the United States. This is just the most cost effective way.
I am launching this fundraiser because while I have been saving up, I also have been struggling with a recurring infection and the medication costs are cutting into my living costs badly.
$2500 will
- Help cover the cost of a deposit on an apartment (I likely will be finding a roommate for now)
- Cover utilities and costs in the 2 week transitioning span since I will not be working before and after the travelling as I get settled
- Cover gas, hotels, food, any quality of life things during travel
If I meet my goal of $2500, I will increase to $3000.
If $3000 is met, any further donations will go towards the $2000+ I have in medical debt because AHCCCS Freedom To Work apparently just vaporized my application I filed in April 15th into thin air after a TMC visit (I truly do not know what is going on).
I appreciate any sharing of my fundraiser.
(And if anyone has any good words of advice for anything relating to community healthcare/state health plans around the Philly metro area [I could move to MD, PA, NJ or DE], please let me know. this is a major motivation for me)
