Hello! My name is Maddy Katzer and I am a junior currently attending Tolland High School. Recently, I was invited to a very competitive Vet Medicine Program in Australia.
This program selects a small number of about 17 outstanding high school students from around the world to participate in real field work and learning opportunities. Activities include helping perform surgical procedures on stray dogs in sanctuaries, caring for elephants, learning from top veterinarians around the world, and more. I am extremely grateful for this offer, as this is the opportunity of a lifetime to begin my collegiate animal science career. Vet school is extremely competitive, and this would set me apart from thousands of other applicants and help fulfill needed hours working in the field to become a vet.
Due to the experiences of the program which last 2 weeks, the cost is very high. My family and I are unfortunately unable to afford the cost of the program, which is why I am requesting your help. The total cost is $6,000, which includes sleeping arrangements, meals, tuition, and travel. By donating to help fund this experience, you are funding a student who will dedicate her life to saving animals. I have wanted to be a vet my entire life, and everything I have ever done has been towards my main goal of persuing this career. I have worked on farms, pet sit for many families and have been involved in 4H since I was 7 years old, I have worked with all kinds of animals including alpacas, rabbits, horses, goats, chickens etc and have taken
on a leadership role as the Vice president of our fair board committee for the past 4 years.
This amazing opportunity won’t be possible without your help, which is why I have started a Gofundme page in hopes of raising enough money. If you have the opportunity to donate, or know someone who would possibly like to donate to help me reach my goal and attend this program, please share! Any support or donation is graciously accepted in any amount and I appreciate your help towards reaching my goal.
Thank you,
Maddy
