Help Me Fund My YWAM Mission Year

I've been accepted into the YWAM Gap Year program in Ensenada, Mexico beginning in September 2025.

I'm excited about this program because I grew up watching mission work firsthand in Uganda and now I have the opportunity to experience how life changing it can by for myself. I'm looking forward to being in community with others who are also eager to grow their faith and share the gospel.

I've been accepted into the Uplift program elective which has a focus on fitness and sharing the gospel. The YWAM website says that "Fitness requires showing up, day in and day out, and deciding to practice it. The same is true of spiritual discipline."

I have enjoyed running since I was a young boy. This is a gift I have seen God grow in me throughout my life, starting on the streets of Kampala, to competing in Cross Country Nationals in New Zealand, and now continuing to run here in Hawaii. I find sports a great way to connect with people and the Encounter sports mission trips that I will be serving on throughout my time with YWAM will enable me to disciple others through sport with grounded physical and spiritual discipline.

To kick off my fundraiser, I have a goal of running 100 Miles in 30 days. I've set this goal to challenge myself in physical and spiritual discipline and to show my commitment to the Uplift program.

The Gap Year is broken down into three parts: Discipleship Training School, a Missions Apprenticeship, and it finishes with Discipleship Bible School. I will have a two week break between the Discipleship Training School (DTS) and the other two programs.

I am committed to working throughout the summer to meet some of my program costs and I will be fundraising to cover the rest. The costs are broken down below.

Christian Gap Year cost

Flights from Honolulu to San Diego (roundtrip x2): $800

DTS Campus Phase: $3,490

DTS Outreach Phase: $2,000-$2,500 (differs per destination - price does not include airfare)

DTS Outreach Flights: $400

MA Internship: $500

DBS: $2,961

Recommended Spending money $100 a month: $1,000

I have learned throughout my life that God will always provide for me what I need: a home, a family, faith through big changes, friends through two international moves, and the confidence to stand in my identity in Christ. I believe God has a plan for you and when you pursue His plan things fall into place and I trust that is what I am doing as I step forward in this season.
