My name is Laura West, and I am an award winning soprano currently in my last year of my undergraduate studies as a scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

My goal for my fundraising is to secure enough funds to allow me to take my place on the prestigious Masters Programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Why do I need your help?

My place on the ‘Master of performance’ is 2 years long with a tuition fee of £12,590 per annum. For the entirety of the course student loan will cover less than half of these fees.

As the course is intensive and calls for 2 hours practice a day, there is less time to work than in traditional Master’s to support myself financially. This is particularly a struggle as a student In London amidst the cost of living crisis.

How will this Benefit my Career?

- The opportunity to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD) would provide me with a world-class education, allowing me to continue working with my trusted singing teacher while also opening new doors for auditioning opportunities. With GSMD ranked 4th in the 2024 QS World University Rankings for Music, it is clear that this prestigious institution will offer me the tools, resources, and exposure I need to further my career in music and performance.

- Being part of the establishment would also allow me more frequent networking and performance opportunities at this level, as well as giving me more stability to work on my external network.

- Allow a safe environment to develop and refine my vocal technique for a long and healthy career onstage.

- To further develop my voice as an artist, informed by the inspiration from my teachers and colleagues and wealth of knowledge at the GSMD.
