Hi, my name is Giselle Pereira, and if you know me, I have always had a passion for education. My first job, at 15, was tutoring children in my local area of North Miami Beach at Kumon Learning Center. There I realized how much I loved helping young children reach their educational goals. When I started college, I knew that elementary education was my calling, so I began my journey into professional teaching. I am now finishing my senior year at the University of Central Florida, just a few months shy of graduating with all my teaching endorsements. During my time in undergrad, I have worked very hard to reach academic excellence. As a result, I have been on the Dean's List and Principal's Honor Roll the last four semesters and have ranked in the top 5% of my class. In addition, I have recently been accepted to the College of Education and Engineering Study Abroad program in Ireland. During this time abroad, not only will I be learning about the rich culture of Ireland, but I will also be learning about the structure of their education system and how I can integrate what I learn into my future classroom. Mary Immaculate College is sponsoring our trip and will take us to various schools and observe how teachers approach education. They were founded in 1898 and are Ireland’s leading university-level College of Education and Liberal Arts, educating 40% of Ireland's primary school teachers.
I usually do not relish asking others for financial assistance, but I am an eager learner desperately wishing to embark on an excellent enrichment opportunity that will help me become the best educator I can be. Therefore, I need to pay off the rest of the program costs, including boarding accommodations, transportation and lunch/dinner vouchers, and any money donated will be used solely for this opportunity. We are set to leave April 18th and have until then to finish paying off the program. Please consider helping a struggling college student meet their academic goals and donate whatever you can. Anything and everything will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
