Help Me Fund My Spring Tuition
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dení, and I’m a queer, autistic artist from Mexico pursuing my MFA in Experimental Animation at CalArts. This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to experience an education where I feel seen, supported, and inspired to embrace my true self.

Growing up in Mexico, I faced constant discrimination for being queer and autistic. Despite these challenges, I worked hard to keep on living and learning. I never thought I could complete highschool, even less my undergrad, but now I’m proud to be the first person from the University of Guadalajara to attend CalArts and the only Latino in my cohort.
While I’ve asked for additional scholarship support, it wasn’t enough to cover my needs. As an international student on an F1 visa, I can’t apply for loans without a cosigner, and I’ve reached my financial limit. I’m still short by $7,000 to cover my spring 2025 semester tuition.
Your support will help me:
- Stay in school and continue this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
- Access tools and resources I had never in my life had.
- Keep CalArts diverse, helping Latino voices and experiences, which are often underrepresented in experimental arts.
Any amount, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign would also help immensely.
Thank you for believing in me and my journey.
Gracias,
Dení
