My incredible service dog and I have been partners for over 7 years, and I can’t imagine my life without him. He turns 9 next month, and like me, he’s officially middle-aged. He will likely be retiring within the next few years, spending his well-earned golden years by my side along with his feline siblings, Brother and Sister.

As my mobility declines and a wheelchair becomes an inevitable part of my future, my need for a canine partner continues to grow. It takes approximately two years to fully train a service dog, and my journey to being matched with mine—along with multiple trips to Amazing Tails in Oxford, Pennsylvania—took over three years. But it was 100% worth the wait!

Unfortunately, service animals are not covered by health insurance, meaning all costs—training, travel, and care—are an out-of-pocket expense. By donating, you’ll help me fund my service hero’s successor, ensuring I continue to have the support I need to navigate daily life safely and independently.

Amazing Tails has been changing lives for people with disabilities since 1999, thanks to the incredible dedication of Joan Bussard with the help of Leslie, Dustin, Buf, and other volunteers.
