Help Me Fund a Year of Clinical Supervision for My Arts Psychotherapy Training
Hi, I’m Bryony Freeman, a key worker supporting children with special educational needs at Castle Mead Academy, a secondary school in Leicester. I’m hoping to raise £1,560 to cover the cost of one year’s clinical supervision, a vital component of the Arts Psychotherapy apprenticeship I’m commencing within my school.
Why I’m Fundraising
As part of my training, I’m required to attend weekly clinical supervision sessions to ensure I practice safely and effectively. Unfortunately, the £1,560 required for this supervision is not included in the apprenticeship course costs. After exploring grants and other funding options without success, I’ve decided to reach out through GoFundMe to ask for your support.
Every contribution, big or small, will bring me closer to covering this cost and continuing my training.
Why This Matters
Every day, I help children navigate significant social, emotional, and mental health challenges. With mental health issues among young people on the rise, the need for support has never been greater. As reported by Mind, 96% of secondary school students say their mental health has impacted their schoolwork. Additionally, around half of young people in the UK will experience at least one traumatic event or adverse childhood experience.
These statistics show how schools, including mine, are having to work incredibly hard to support students’ mental health, but there’s still a need for further, innovative solutions. This new apprenticeship offers a groundbreaking way to implement otherwise difficult-to-access and costly support directly within the school environment, making a real difference for the children who need it most.
My goal is to help bridge that gap by providing children with the care and creative tools they need to process their emotions, build confidence, and thrive—not just in school, but in life.
My Journey So Far
I started my career as an illustrator, but my passion for art and well-being led me to work on community arts projects and run creative workshops to support mental health. Over time, I realised this work is not only where I can make the biggest difference but also where I feel truly fulfilled—it’s where I belong.
I’ve also experienced the life-changing benefits of psychotherapy firsthand, and I believe this kind of support should be accessible to everyone—not just those who can afford it. One of my biggest goals is to advocate for greater accessibility, ensuring that therapy feels within reach for all, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
My Vision
In the future, my dream is to create a community arts therapy bus -a mobile space bringing the healing power of art to children, families, and underserved communities. I hope to see this bus traveling between the schools I support during term time and reaching wider communities during the school holidays, ensuring consistent access to creative therapeutic support.
This apprenticeship is an incredible opportunity to begin that journey, enabling me to become a qualified practitioner and establish an arts psychotherapy provision at my school. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to start making a difference now, and with your support, I can take this crucial final step toward achieving my vision.
If I’m fortunate enough to raise more than my goal amount, the funds will go directly towards any art materials and resources needed within the inclusion team at my school. This will ensure the children I work with have the tools they need to express themselves and grow.
Giving Back
As a thank you for your support, I’d love to offer something in return. If you’d like a print of one of my latest designs, you can choose from a selection of my favourite pieces. Just contact me via the contact button beneath my story, I will then send you the choices and organise a print as a token of gratitude.
Thank you so much for reading my story. If you’re unable to donate, please do not worry - even sharing this campaign with others would mean the world to me.
Your kindness and generosity will make a lasting difference - not just for me, but for the children and communities I’m passionate about supporting.
With gratitude,
Bryony Freeman
