help me fullfill my dream of dancing in london!!!

Hello ,

my name is Danique Willemsen ,

I am a 20 year old dancer.

when I was a kid I always told people I would study in London when I was older… little did I know that

this year I would have the amazing opportunity to travel to the amazing city of London to audition for a dance education called Rambert school of Ballet and contemporary Dance.

when I arrived at the school and saw the students there I immediately fell in love with the school.

dance has always been important to me ,

But what is dance?

this is a question us dancers continuously ask ourselves and each other , and

it’s a question we should always keep asking ourselves.

I have danced my whole life, I grew up with it. At such a young age I never

thought of that question , I knew I loved being energetic and I have always

been a kid that loved to learn and that needed a challenge. But I also loved

being on stage.

during my years at high school at codarts I had dance history and started to

learn about all these questions. “what is dance?”, “what role does dance have

in society”, “what does dance do to/for people”. As I learned to analyse dance

successfully I was still wondering about what it meant to me. It took time and

struggle and excitement and inspiration from everything around me to realise

dance is in everything we see. Dance is something indescribable that

itches…something within someone that you can’t really explain. But you go and

search exactly for that little itching indescribable thing and expand it , learn

what it is and that’s exactly what makes a dancer a dancer. Dance speaks for

people when people are not able to speak. I have always felt las if I speak

different language in my life than the people around me , as if they didn’t

understood what I said. But dance always understands me and I will always

understand dance.

But just because I understand doesn’t mean it is not a challenge , and like I said

before I love challenges and I look for them to always learn and be stimulated

to create and grow more. And that is exactly what I believe to find at Rambert.

discover and getting to know people their dance language whilst constantly developing my own.

I have been offered an unconditional place at Rambert school of ballet and contemporary dance , foundation degree.

AND I NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS DREAM COME TRUE!

as you know after Brexit , to study and life in London is very expensive.

I need to pay my tuition and my student housing.

together with you I hope to achieve my ultimate dream.
