Dear friends and community,
I hope this letter finds you well. I’m reaching out with a vulnerable but hopeful heart.
Ever since I was young, I’ve felt a natural connection with kids. I was always the one asked to babysit, and as I’ve grown older, I’ve continued to find ease, joy, and meaning in caring for children. While my desire to have children of my own has ebbed and flowed throughout my life, over the past decade my desire has grown to be something more steady and strong. Nurturing, witnessing growth, and learning from children is something I now deeply yearn for. Spending time with my friends’ kids brings me so much joy—and sometimes, a bittersweet reminder that I’m not yet in a place where I can bring a child into the world myself.
Right now, I’m focusing on building a new career in ecological restoration—a field I’m deeply passionate about. I recently graduated from university and, like many starting out, I’m on contract work without extended health benefits. While I’m proud of the direction my life is taking, I also know that building financial and personal stability will take time.
As a woman in her late 30’s, freezing my eggs offers me something invaluable–time. Time to grow my career, to meet a partner who shares my desire to build a family, and to create a stable, loving home where I can one day welcome a child or two into the world.
Since last fall, I’ve been working with a reproductive specialist at the Pacific Centre for Reproductive Medicine. After completing all the required pre-procedure testing—bloodwork, hormone assessments, imaging—I now have a personalized treatment plan and medical clearance to begin. The next big hurdle is the cost.
Unfortunately, there are no financial grants or bursaries available to support people in my position—single women looking to freeze their eggs for future fertility use. As a last resort, I’m turning to my community for support.
The total cost is approximately $16,000, which includes:
$10,000: Egg retrieval medical procedure including preparation, monitoring, and aftercare
$5000–$6,000: Stimulation medications
Because I would like to complete the procedure before my 40th birthday in April 2026, my goal is to raise the funds by February 2026. This will give me enough time to plan and move forward with the process without rushing at the last minute.
This process is not just medical—it’s emotional, empowering, and deeply personal. Your support—whether through donations, kind words, or simply sharing this page—means the world to me. It brings me one step closer to preserving the dream I’ve carried for so long, to one day be a mother.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of my journey.
With love and gratitude,
Lauren
