Hi everyone, my name’s Aaron, and this January I’m hoping to begin my MSc Chiropractic (Pre-registration) course at AECC University College (Health Sciences University) in Bournemouth.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been involved in sport — I’ve been a student athlete and national-level swimmer, and swimming has always been a huge part of my life. A few years ago, I first went to see a chiropractor to help improve my performance and manage my body better. What started as a simple way to help my swimming ended up sparking something I’d never felt before — a real passion and fascination for how the human body works and how chiropractic care can make such a difference.

It’s honestly the first time I’ve ever truly known what I wanted to do. Growing up, I never had a clear idea of what career I wanted to pursue — but chiropractic just clicked. It combines everything I love: movement, sport, helping others, and science.

Unfortunately, despite doing everything I can to prepare — working full-time this year as a lifeguard and sports assistant, budgeting carefully, and applying for postgraduate loans — the funding available doesn’t cover the full course cost. The tuition fee is around £11,071 per year, and while I’ll receive a £6,000 postgraduate loan, that still leaves a significant gap, especially when factoring in living costs.

I’m determined to make this work. I’ve been applying for jobs in Bournemouth, planning out every expense, and even exploring sports scholarships and hardship funds. But the reality is, without some extra help, I may not be able to take this opportunity that means so much to me.

This isn’t just about studying — it’s about building a future doing something I love, and something I know I’ll be proud of for the rest of my life. My goal is to become a chiropractor who helps others the way my chiropractor helped me, especially athletes who want to move and perform better.
