Donation protected
I am a poor college student living on my own this semester and my school gave me just enough money to cover my rent and a few expenses, so when I needed a car I was stretching myself thin. After purchasing my car (which was $2,200) I had about $100 left to be able to buy food, gas, etc. and had to use a credit card to pay for the registration and insurance. Currently, I have about $30 in my account that I have to stretch over the next three months somehow before my school money comes in mid-January.
Not even a month into having this car, someone tried to break into it, broke off the top of the steering wheel mechanics (trying to hot wire it possibly?), got frustrated and smashed the trunk and the passenger side door in. My insurance does not cover any of this damage, so I have to pay out of pocket completely and I cannot afford to do that.
I live by myself, with all my family is Wisconsin while I am in California. My only saving grace was being able to meet up with my boyfriend and his family who live two hours away. I need a car to go grocery shopping, to see them, and to not lose sanity in this pandemic. If you are able to donate anything it will be of great help, even if it's just paying for the tow truck to send this car to the junk yard if I can't afford anything else.
My hope is to honestly get a different (used) car that has an alarm system and cannot be hot wired, since any city I live in will likely have higher crime rates in the poorer areas that I can afford to live in. If we raise the full $5,000 not only will I be able to get a nicer car that I will feel safe in, but I would also be able to pay for the increased insurance rate due to this incident and maybe have some left over for groceries. If you're able to donate anything, 50 cents or $10, or share with friends and family, it would mean the world to me (I know I have been saying that a lot to donors, but it is so true)! Help me feel safe in my car and in my neighborhood until I can move again :)
