Help Me Finish My Morehouse College Journey
Donation protected
My name is Malcolm West and I am currently a Senior Theatre & Performing Arts major. These past few months have been a rush of seemingly horrible news from all sources. From the untimely deaths of friends and family to COVID-19 changing our country's economy. With Morehouse College's news of cancelling on-campus classes, I would like to reach out for advice regarding troubles during this trying times.
I have been struggling with paying a Morehouse fee of $15,000. Now with the development of the COVID-19 virus, classes have been cancelled and the several jobs I have been working to pay off my debt have all been cancelled for the oncoming months. I now have no way of making money. I have applied for every scholarship, loan, and grant I could find with little to no avail. I have gone through seemingly every resource I can find to find the money I owe. But with this virus, everything has come to a full stop. The money will be going straight to my tuition, housing, & graduation fees, along with any outstanding fines that have come directly from my school bill.
Now with the fate of the Class of 2020 and our financial refunds up in the air, I only ask that whatever is done, that my record can somehow be mended. I have put in just as much work as my classmates to reach my senior status and I cannot let a virus and money issues stop me dead in my tracks. I have become a very determined filmmaker during my time here. I've traveled on the College's behalf to promote the importance of seeking a higher education to high schoolers. I have traveled internationally and worked with Morehouse Men in foreign elections such as the island Bermuda. I have made films about my experiences and the joy and opportunities Morehouse has brought me and my friends. I am praying every day that some miracle might happen that will solve the world’s problems and allow my Brothers and I to walk the stage this December.
So now I come to you in my most desperate hour. I am looking for financial assistance through the alumni network. I have applied for aid on the Alumni Association website, along with the scholarship application. I have tried everything I can and I am still looking for more options. My journey through Morehouse has been nothing short of memorable. The bonds I’ve formed, the adventures I’ve embarked on, the problems I have overcome, have all helped shaped me to be a better man. I pray that money issues don’t halt my progress. These past few months have not been easy on me, and while I don’t want to burden you with sob stories, I would hope you could empathize with my drive.
My ultimate goal in life is to become an influential filmmaker and use my voice to influence change while entertaining audiences everywhere. I am determined to finish, and I am determined to help any others who come after me. Please find it in your heart to either help me or point me in the direction of someone who could help me. I am looking for any donation that can help me while I look for work during this crisis. Every dollar or help could go a long way.
I have attached my YouYube channels and LinkedIn page so you can get to know me and my work on a more professional basis. Please feel free to reach out to me, as my future depends on it. Stay safe in these troubling times.
