Hey everyone,
My name is Justin Howard, and I’m raising funds to complete the final stage of my flight training and achieve my Commercial Pilot’s License.
Becoming a pilot has been my dream since finishing school in 2021. Over the past few years, I’ve done everything I could to turn that dream into reality — working relentlessly, often far outside my comfort zone, to fund my training step by step.
To pay for flight school, I’ve worked as a seafarer and deckhand on superyachts, alongside a wide range of other jobs:
- Hotel/restaurant
- Sports teacher and homeschooling tutor
- Photography for hotels and matric dances
- Renting out Bavarian lederhosen at Oktoberfest in Bavaria
- Skateboard lessons
- Dog and house sitting
Every job, every contract, and every long stretch away from home had one purpose: to keep flying.
In 2023, I earned my Private Pilot’s License in South Africa (Awarded student pilot of the year). In 2024, I built the required 150 flight hours needed for commercial training. Since the end of 2024, I’ve been completing the European ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot License) exams while working at a hotel/restaurant to save up for the last part of my training.
I’ve already passed 10 out of 13 ATPL exams, all with distinction, and I’m on track to complete the remaining exams in the coming weeks.
I’ve now reached the final and most challenging stage of my journey: the last portion of practical flight training that stands between me and qualifying as a Commercial Pilot.
This stage is financially demanding, and despite years of hard work and self-funding, I can’t complete it alone. Any contribution — big or small — would directly help me cross the final line and turn years of effort into a career I’ve worked tirelessly for.
It would specifically go towards:
- Multi-Engine Piston rating
- Instrument rating
- Commercial pilot training
If you choose to support me, you’re not just helping fund flight hours — you’re helping someone who has refused to give up on a dream, no matter how long or difficult the road has been.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting in any way.
I’m deeply grateful for every bit of encouragement along this journey.
✈️Justin
