Help me find my identity after alopecia areata
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tamara and I have recently been diagnosed with alopecia areata.
I found a small bald patch which appeared suddenly and has continued to spread. I do not know if I will continue to lose my hair, or if it will even grow back.
In the space of a few weeks I have had to cut all my hair off. It has been traumatic and affected my mental health dramatically. I feel like my identity has been taken away.
I have purchased a few cheap synthetic wigs online but they are uncomfortable and make me feel unbelievably self conscious.
I am a support worker for adults with learning disabilities and I don’t have any disposable income. I am hoping to raise some money that would go towards seeing a wig specialist and the purchase of a human hair wig. After researching into this it could be up to £1000 just for a wig, without the consultation.
I appreciate you taking the time to read this and for your consideration of a donation. It is very hard to have to do this and to ask for help.
