I have less than 30 days to resolve my housing crisis. After losing my sister to cancer, my savings, and stable health, I am asking for help to find solid ground again.

My sister and I shared the same age from July to September. Every year during that time, we would greet each other with “hi, twin” and say goodbye with “bye, twin.” She always had my back, and the laughter we shared could fill the stadium where her memorial service was held.

I moved to Las Vegas to be closer to her, planning a home where she could rest during her cancer treatment, with easy access to her favorite spots, like shopping for fabrics. She passed away just two months before my move, and one month after I arrived, the COVID lockdown began—leaving me grieving in a place filled with constant reminders of her. I was navigating everything on my own as a series of housing and medical issues unfolded and escalated.

Within two years of my arrival, the other “rocks” in my life—an elderly couple who had known me since childhood and lived in Las Vegas—passed away as well, and with them went a sense of warmth and belonging that had meant everything to me here.

Shortly after moving in, I was forced to leave my initial rental due to unsafe living conditions that were affecting my health. The move during the pandemic was costly and difficult, with damaged belongings and unreliable help. Before I could settle into the new rental, a boiler flood destroyed a significant portion of my property and created additional loss and expenses.

Since then, I have faced continued housing-related disruption, mounting costs, and the physical, mental, emotional, and cognitive strain of managing nearly everything on my own while dealing with serious health issues.

I arrived in Las Vegas debt-free and with savings. I had planned carefully. Today, those resources have been depleted as I’ve worked very hard to address these circumstances. I am now struggling to cover basic needs and cannot afford to relocate on my own. I have less than 30 days before I lose my current housing.

I am asking for help to raise $6,500 so I can relocate closer to support with stable housing and medical care. Your contribution will help cover moving and other essential expenses during this transition.
